Very GOOD FORD 901 46 HP Diesel High Clearance Row Crop SPRAYER UNIT TRACTOR Tractor Runs, Starts, Drives, Hydraulics and Works all Very Good 46 HP Good Tires Perfect Oil Pressure POWER Steering Solid Select-O-Speed Transmission SOILSERV Sprayer Unit w/Hydraulic Booms (-$800 if you don’t want the Sprayer). Up for auction to the highest or fastest bidder is a very good 1950′s Ford 901 PowerMaster DIESEL Spray Rig Tractor. This rare and hard to find 901 high crop clearance unit runs all real good as you’ll see at the video link below. This is a 901 Ford model and not the earlier 900 it replaced because of the cross bars on the grill which only the 901 had when Ford changed the front grill design. Just tuned, checked and serviced too by Central Coast Tractor Repair at Salinas, CA there. Has a Soilserv Sprayer Unit on it which is a Salinas, CA based company that is still in active business there in their CA and AZ vegetable country locations. The Salinas headquarters is at: (831) 385-5951. This unit is a Bean Pump 35 or “Bean 35″ and they said they had no problem putting out 150 lbs. or more pressure. We thought it would be best for the new owner to check the pump and then turn the PTO and it on since it’s been several years since last used but all ran fine then. We’d recommend disconnecting the PTO/Pump sprocket chain and just put a pipe wrench on the pump to be sure it turns the mechanic recommended. The pump is the big Bean Royal 35 and the 2 tanks on each side are 250 Gallons each. The booms are all hydraulically operated. If you don’t want the Sprayer Unit you can try to sell it yourself for $1,000 or $2,000 or more, but if not we’d buy it back and remove it for -$800 off the winning bid price and sell it ourself. Also this Ford 900 High Clear has Power Steering that all works good. Select-O-Speed Transmission works good in addition the shop confirms as they were and are popular on the Ford tractors out in that area so the mechanic was very familar with this tractor. Tires are 50% or slightly better all around with some weathering. They look very good in the pictures as you’ll see above, and you can see some of the weathering in the tire center right at the end of the video around the 2:25 mark. But still they all seem solid for a lot of work life left in them. Fuel and tach gauge not working as you commonly see on a older tractor like this but real good oil pressure and cools all good. Since this tractor had been parked when the land was rented the shop also cleaned, serviced and checked it for anything it needed including a new rebuilt injector pump($1,011) and blew the lines and cleaned the tanks and air cleaner so all that wasn’t cheap and its ready to go now. Oil and filter changed too along with the rear interlock assembly was repaired and updated. The full service receipt and repair/updating receipt of over $2,800 parts and labor goes with too. This tractor new with Sprayer Units and similar HP would be in the $30,000-$40,000 range so this unit is at a great starting price here on eBay. I’m normally a Deere man but Ford was King of the Tractor market at the time until Deere got there act together later on and then Ford lost interest in tractors and then sold to what is now New Holland. History on the 900 and 901 series: The Ford practice of a simplified, 1 tractor product line came to an end with the NAA Jubilee in 1954. In that year Ford stopped production of their last one model tractor, the NAA, which had succeeded the 8N line. And so the 600 and 800 utility series of tractors were launched. The 600 series tractors were based on the NAA design and aimed at the small farm equipment market, whereas the 800 and 900 series had more power and focused at larger farming applications. The number 0 in the last letter like 900 means it was built from 1955 to 1958. And a 1 as in 901 means it was made from 1957-1962. And so in late 1957 Ford introduced this expanded line up for 1958 renamed the “01″ series. These included the 501 (offset) 601, 701, 801, and 901 series tractors. Several improvements were made and new options were added. Horsepower increased across the line and the color schemes were changed. The 134 cubic inch gas or 144 cubic inch diesel engine 501, 601 and 701 series became known as the Workmaster tractors and had an all red hood with gray only on the grille, fenders and wheels. They retained the earlier NAA-600 style grille. The 172 cubic inch gas or diesel engined 801 and 901 were known as the Powermaster tractors. Their paint scheme included a red hood center with gray sides and new “egg crate” style grille. All got a new medallion for the front of the hood and new styled rear fenders. The biggest change was the addition of a cross section of bars across the front grille.
